Back Pain Treatment — Stop Managing It. Start Fixing It.

Maybe it started with one wrong lift. Maybe it crept in over years of sitting. Either way, you know the routine by now: flare up, back off, heat pack, careful for a few weeks, slowly return to normal — until the next time. A third of our patients lived inside that cycle for years before someone finally looked at the structure underneath it.

Why your back pain keeps returning

Recurring back pain almost always has a structural driver: a spinal segment that's lost proper alignment or motion, a pelvis sitting unevenly, or a curve that's changed under years of load. The muscles spasm to protect the compromised structure — and that spasm is the pain you feel. (When the compression reaches a nerve root, it becomes sciatica — a different beast, covered separately.)

Rest works temporarily because it removes load from the structure. But rest doesn't change the structure, so the next deadlift, the next long drive, the next awkward lift of a toddler reloads the same weak point. The pattern isn't bad luck. It's mechanics.

The most important distinction in back care is symptom management versus structural correction. Painkillers, heat, massage and generic core exercises manage symptoms. Identifying the specific segment or alignment problem and correcting it — that's what breaks the cycle. Most of our chronic back patients had years of the former and none of the latter.

Diagnosis first

How we find the cause

Your free first consultation covers the full story: how it started, the pattern of flare-ups, your work, your training, and everything you've already tried.

We then assess your structure: spinal joint motion segment by segment, pelvic alignment and weight distribution, posture analysis, and the orthopaedic tests that distinguish joint, disc and nerve involvement.

Where imaging is clinically indicated, EOS standing scans show your spine under actual load — very low dose, bulk billed through Medicare, no GP referral required. For chronic back pain, seeing the structural cause is frequently the turning point.

We explain everything we find, visually and plainly, before discussing any care. If your problem isn't one we can help, we'll say so at this visit — which costs you nothing.

Treatment

What to expect from care

  • Care corrects the specific structural drivers we identified — restoring alignment and motion so your muscles can finally stop guarding.
  • Most patients feel meaningful change within 2–3 sessions. Structural patterns built over years take a defined course of care to fully correct, and your plan will give you that number honestly, up front.
  • We rebuild your confidence in your back, not just its comfort — including specific guidance for your training, lifting and desk setup so the correction survives contact with real life.
  • Plans end. Progress is re-measured. And once corrected, how you maintain it is entirely your choice — no lock-ins, ever.

FAQs

Back Pain: your questions answered

When should I see a chiropractor for back pain?

If your back pain keeps returning, has lasted more than a couple of weeks, or follows a flare-and-settle cycle, the cause is likely structural — and the sooner it's identified, the simpler the correction. Acute 'can't move' episodes also respond well, and we keep same-day slots for exactly that.

Chiro or physio for back pain?

Different tools for different causes. Physio strengthens muscles and movement patterns; chiropractic corrects the joint and alignment structure underneath them. If strengthening hasn't broken your flare-up cycle, the structure is usually the missing piece. Many patients ultimately benefit from both — in the right order.

Will I need x-rays?

Only if clinically indicated — most assessments start hands-on. When imaging is warranted, we use EOS technology: a standing, very low-dose scan that's bulk billed through Medicare with no GP referral needed.

Once I start, do I have to keep coming forever?

No. Every plan has a defined endpoint and a re-assessment to confirm the correction. Some patients choose periodic maintenance afterwards because they like how they feel — but that's a choice, never a requirement.

Can you help with disc problems?

Often, yes — depending on the type and severity, which is exactly what assessment determines. Where a disc injury needs a different pathway (specialist referral, imaging review), we'll tell you directly at the free first consultation.
