Chiropractor for Headaches & Migraines — Because Your GP Checked Your Head, Not Your Neck
If you've had recurring headaches for months or years, you've probably done the rounds: GP, painkillers, maybe a scan of your head that came back clear, maybe a migraine diagnosis that never quite fit. Here's what almost nobody checked: your neck. A huge proportion of chronic headaches are cervicogenic — they originate in the cervical spine and refer pain into the head.

Why your headaches keep coming back
The top three joints of your neck share nerve pathways with the structures of your head and face. When those joints are restricted, misaligned or under sustained postural load, they refer pain upward — into the base of the skull, behind the eyes, across the temples. This is a cervicogenic headache, and it's one of the most commonly misdiagnosed conditions we see.
The tell-tale signs: headaches that start at the back of the head or neck, headaches that arrive after long desk days, pain that's worse on one side, a neck that feels stiff or 'wrong' even when the head doesn't hurt, and — the big one — headaches that medication only postpones rather than prevents.
Painkillers can't fix this because the problem isn't in your head. It's in the joints and alignment of your upper neck, and until that structure changes, the headaches have a permanent home address.
Diagnosis first
How we find the cause
Your free first consultation maps your headache pattern — where it starts, when it arrives, what your work and posture look like — because cervicogenic headaches have a recognisable signature.
We then assess your cervical spine specifically: joint-by-joint motion testing, posture analysis including forward head carriage, and examination of the exact upper-neck segments that refer pain into the head.
If imaging is clinically indicated, we have access to EOS standing scans — very low dose, bulk billed through Medicare, no GP referral needed. Seeing the loss of your neck's natural curve on a scan is often the moment years of headaches finally make sense.
Everything is explained to you visually and plainly. You'll understand the mechanism of your own headaches before any treatment is discussed.

Treatment
What to expect from care
- Treatment restores motion and alignment to the upper cervical segments that are referring pain — addressing the source rather than chasing the symptom.
- Headache patients are often among our faster responders, because correcting the irritated upper-neck segments removes the trigger directly. How fast depends on how long the pattern has been there — and you'll get an honest timeline after assessment, not a sales pitch.
- Your plan has a defined endpoint with progress reviews. We also address the postural drivers — desk setup, phone habits — so the correction holds.
- Same-day appointments most weekdays, 7am–7:30pm. All private health funds accepted with on-the-spot claims.

FAQs
Headaches & Migraines: your questions answered
Can a chiropractor help with headaches?
Yes — particularly cervicogenic headaches, which originate in the neck and are among the most common chronic headache types. We assess whether your headaches have a cervical cause, show you the evidence, and correct the structure that's referring pain into your head.
How do I know if my headaches come from my neck?
Common signs: pain starting at the base of the skull or one side of the neck, headaches after desk work or driving, reduced neck movement, and headaches that painkillers dull but never prevent. The definitive answer comes from a cervical spine assessment — which is included in your free first consultation.
What about migraines — can chiropractic help those too?
Many patients diagnosed with 'migraines' actually have cervicogenic headaches, which respond well to structural correction. True migraines are a different mechanism, but cervical dysfunction can act as a trigger — and reducing that trigger reduces frequency for many patients. The assessment tells us which category you're in.
My head scan came back clear. Why would my neck be the problem?
Because head imaging looks at the head — it doesn't assess cervical joint motion, alignment or the curve of your neck under load. A clear head scan plus persistent headaches is, in fact, the classic cervicogenic presentation.
How quickly will I notice a difference?
Headache patients are often our fastest responders — many notice change within the first one to three visits. Long-standing patterns can take longer to fully resolve, and you'll get a specific, honest estimate after your assessment.
